Bodhi Day

Shakuson Jodo-e” is a celebration of the Buddha’s enlightenment.
We thank Buddha for saving many people through his enlightenment.

Jodo-e is a puja held on the day of Buddha’s enlightenment, and is one of the three major events in Buddhism along with Nativity and Nirvana.
It was on December 8 that the Buddha stopped suffering for many years, meditated under the Bodhi tree, and attained Buddhahood.

The “Shakuson Jodo-e” is a memorial service to commemorate this day, to remember the process of Buddha’s enlightenment, to rejoice in his enlightenment, and to renew our resolve to strive for Buddhist practice.
