Nirvana Society

Nirvana Day is held on February 15, the day of Buddha’s death at the age of 80. The actual date of Buddha’s death is not known for certain, but it is generally accepted to be February 15, since the second full moon of the Vaisya month in the Indian calendar is designated as a full moon day in Nanden Buddhism.

The word “nirvana” refers to the state of satori, or the state where suffering has ceased to exist.
The term “nirvana” refers to the death of Buddha, since it is believed that when Buddha ended his life on earth (nirvana), he also left physical suffering behind, and thus attained complete “nirvana”.
